{"id":353,"date":"2017-09-10T11:27:28","date_gmt":"2017-09-10T11:27:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/matsyendranatha.com\/?p=353"},"modified":"2017-09-10T13:30:49","modified_gmt":"2017-09-10T13:30:49","slug":"sequence-and-randomness-of-a%e1%b9%85gas-in-yoga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/matsyendranatha.com\/?p=353","title":{"rendered":"Sequence and randomness of a\u1e45gas in yoga"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>I have found different sequences and quantity of the <em>yoga<\/em> parts (<em>a\u1e45gas<\/em>), but the following sequence from <em>Agni-pur\u0101\u1e47a<\/em> (381.11), I think, is especially interesting:<\/p>\n<p>\u092a\u094d\u0930\u0923\u092f\u092e\u0938\u094d\u0924\u0925\u093e \u0927\u094d\u092f\u093e\u0928\u0902 \u092f\u094b\u0917\u094b \u092a\u094d\u0930\u0924\u094d\u092f\u093e\u0939\u093e\u0930\u094b\u093d\u0925 \u0927\u093e\u0930\u0923\u093e | \u0938\u092e\u093e\u0927\u093f\u0936\u094d\u091a \u092e\u0941\u0928\u093f\u0936\u094d\u0930\u0947\u0937\u094d\u0920\u093e \u092f\u092e\u094b \u0928\u093f\u092f\u092e \u0906\u0938\u0928\u092e\u094d ||<br \/>\n<em>pra\u1e47ayamastath\u0101 dhy\u0101na\u1e43 yogo praty\u0101h\u0101ro\u2019tha dh\u0101ra\u1e47\u0101 | <\/em><br \/>\n<em>sam\u0101dhi\u015bca muni\u015bre\u1e63\u1e6dh\u0101 yamo niyama \u0101sanam ||<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The eleventh part of <em>K\u016brma-pur\u0101\u1e47a<\/em> (11.11-12) actually repeats this <em>\u015bloka<\/em> and the description of the <em>a\u1e45gas<\/em> sequence: <em>pra\u1e47ayama, dhy\u0101na, praty\u0101h\u0101ra, dh\u0101ra\u1e47a, sam\u0101dhi, yama, niyama, \u0101sana<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>What is most interesting that \u2018<em>\u0101sana<\/em>\u2019, which now has become the most important and maybe even the only practice, is listed in the very last position; <em>yama<\/em> and <em>niyama<\/em> go prior to it. I personally see logic even how the <em>\u0101sana<\/em> is described by <em>Pata\u00f1jali<\/em>, by <em>Gorak\u015ban\u0101th<\/em>, in <em>\u015aiva-s\u016btra-vimar\u015bin\u012b<\/em>, and other texts of different traditions and <em>dar\u015banas<\/em>.
