In the heart (an\u0101hata-cakra) there is\u00a0<em>k\u0101ma<\/em>&#8211;<em>b\u012bja<\/em> (known as kl\u012b\u1e43 <\/i><span class=\"s1\">\u0915\u094d\u0932\u0940\u0902<\/span><i> in \u015ar\u012bvidy\u0101), it is similar to a bandhuk flower (in India it is associated with passion). In the lotus of the \u0101j\u00f1\u0101-cakra, there is\u00a0<em>\u015bakti<\/em>&#8211;<em>b\u012bja<\/em> (in \u015ar\u012bvidy\u0101 they call it sau\u1e25 <\/i><span class=\"s1\">\u0938\u094c\u0903<\/span><i>), it is like ten million moons (<em>candrako\u1e6disamaprabha<\/em>). This secret mantra bestows fruit both in the form of spiritual liberation and enjoyment. A yogin must diligently practice these three mantras.<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Based on that, some people conclude that this is not a text of the <em>N\u0101thas<\/em>, but rather the <em>vedantic<\/em> one, belonging to the tradition of\u00a0<i>\u015ar\u012bvidy\u0101<\/i>. But I don\u2019t think so, the text could well belong to\u00a0<em>N\u0101thas<\/em>. Because, one of the initiations in the <em>N\u0101tha-samprad\u0101ya<\/em>, known as <em>upade\u015b<i>\u012b<\/i>-d\u012bk\u1e63\u0101<\/em>, implies the worship of the Goddess <em>B\u0101l\u0101sundar<i>\u012b<\/i><\/em>. To begin with, I will give you Her\u00a0<em>\u015babar-mantra<\/em> with my translation. Let there be the will of Guruji, with all respect to Guruji. So\u1e43 is the expression of the Goddess of Speech (aliya),\u00a0<\/i><em>K\u0101l\u012b<\/em>\u00a0<i>(kaliya), T\u0101r\u0101 (t\u0101r\u0101), Tripur\u0101 (tripur\u0101). She holds a scripture in her left hand, and japa-mala in her right. So (itn\u0101) it was your (tum),<em>\u015a<\/em>r\u012b\u00a0<em>B\u0101l\u0101sundar\u012b<\/em>\u00a0(\u015br\u012b\u00a0<\/i><i style=\"color: #333333; font-weight: 300;\">b\u0101l\u0101\u00a0<\/i><i style=\"font-weight: 300;\">sundar\u012b), in the form of the nature of yoga (yogam\u0101y\u0101 svar\u016bp), complete repetition (japa) and spiritual effort (tapas) of the\u00a0<em>upade\u015b<i>\u012b<\/i>&#8211;<\/em>mantra (upade\u015b\u012b mantr samp\u016br\u1e47 bhay\u0101) in the form of a living soul, located inside the body (j\u012bv pi\u1e47\u1e0d k\u0101 rakhv\u0101l\u0101). Let there be the will (blessing) of the respected\u00a0<i><em>\u015a<\/em>r\u012b<\/i>\u00a0Guru N<i>\u0101<\/i>th (\u015br\u012b n\u0101thj\u012b guruj\u012b ko \u0101de\u015b).<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It describes exactly the same image of the Goddess <em>B\u0101l\u0101<\/em>, which is worshipped in the Tradition of\u00a0<i>\u015ar\u012bvidy\u0101<\/i>. We can argue about the varieties of syllables, the differences between <em>Sa\u1e43sk\u1e5bt<\/em>\u00a0<em>mantras<\/em> and\u00a0<em>\u015aabar<\/em> <em>mantras<\/em>. But, that is the same as, for instance, we confidently say that <em>Gorak\u1e63a<\/em>&#8211;<em>g\u0101yatr\u012b<\/em> is not <em>G\u0101yatr\u012b<\/em>, because it does not correspond to the metric size, as there are no 24 syllables in it. Or, to argue about the fact that it is not right to consider the <em>G\u0101yatr\u012b<\/em> <em>mantra<\/em> as <em>so-ham<\/em>. However, if you thoroughly study the topic of metric sizes, you will see that each metric size has many variations. One <em>chandas<\/em> can have variations with different numbers of <em>ak\u1e63aras<\/em>. On the other hand,\u00a0<em>B\u0101l\u0101<\/em> is not limited to three <em>b\u012bjas<\/em>; there are combinations of six, nine, and even sixteen (<em>\u1e63o\u1e0da\u015b\u012b<\/em>). Her\u00a0<em>b\u012bjas<\/em> are parts of the <em>Maha\u1e63o\u1e0da\u015b\u012b<\/em>\u00a0<em>mantra<\/em>, inside of which there is the <em>pa\u00f1cada\u015b\u012b<\/em> or\u00a0<em>\u1e63o\u1e0da\u015b\u012b<\/em> (<em>mantra<\/em>) from <em>k\u0101di<\/em>, <em>h\u0101di<\/em> and <em>s\u0101di<\/em>\u00a0<em>k\u016b\u1e6dak\u1e63aras<\/em>, with the addition of\u00a0<em>\u015br\u012b\u1e43<\/em>, and also\u00a0<em>pra\u1e47ava<\/em> Om. In fact, the <em>mantra<\/em> of <em>Tripura Bhairav\u012b<\/em> is also derived from the <em>mantra<\/em> of\u00a0<em>B\u0101l\u0101<\/em>, in which\u00a0<em>b\u012bjas<\/em> <em>ha<\/em>, <em>sa<\/em> and <em>ra<\/em> are added. The former is the essence of the <em>\u015ar\u012b\u00a0Yantra<\/em>, and also the form of\u00a0<em>K\u0101l\u012b<\/em>. For that reason, virtually all the main <em>mantras<\/em> of\u00a0<i>\u015ar\u012bvidy\u0101<\/i> are derived from\u00a0<em>B\u0101l\u0101<\/em>. In general, <em>Tripura\u00a0Sundar\u012b<\/em> in tantrism is the Goddess of <em>\u016brdhv\u0101mn\u0101ya<\/em>, oriented on the ideals of\u00a0<em>mok\u1e63a<\/em>, the main goal in <em>yoga<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">I propose to analyse the shorter\u00a0<em>\u015babar-<\/em><em>mantra<\/em> of\u00a0<em>B\u0101l\u0101<\/em> from the <em>N\u0101tha-Samprad\u0101ya<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The\u00a0<em>N\u0101tha-mantra<\/em> of <em>Yoga<\/em> <em>M\u0101y\u0101<\/em>\u00a0<em>B\u0101l\u0101<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">\u0950 \u0938\u094b\u0902 \u0907\u0932\u0940\u0902 \u0915\u094d\u0932\u0940\u0902 \u0936\u094d\u0930\u0940\u0902 \u0938\u094b\u0902 \u0936\u094d\u0930\u0940\u0902 \u0938\u0941\u0928\u094d\u0926\u0930\u0940 \u092c\u093e\u0932\u093e \u0928\u092e\u0903<span class=\"s1\">\u00a0\u0965<br \/>\n<\/span><em>o\u1e41 s\u014d\u1e41 Il\u012b\u1e41 kl\u012b\u1e41 \u015br\u012b\u1e41 s\u014d\u1e41 \u015br\u012b\u1e41 sundar\u012b b\u0101l\u0101 nama\u1e25\u00a0\u0965<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">These\u00a0<em>b\u012bjas<\/em> are slightly transformed versions of the <em>triak\u1e63ari<\/em>, as well as of other <em>mantras<\/em> of\u00a0<i>\u015ar\u012bvidy\u0101<\/i> (<em>\u015b<\/em><em>ri\u1e43<\/em>, <em>o\u1e43<\/em> and <em>soha\u1e43<\/em>) derived from it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The\u00a0<i>\u015ar\u012bvidy\u0101<\/i> <em>mantra<\/em> of\u00a0<em>B\u0101l\u0101<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">\u0910\u0902<span class=\"s1\"> \u00a0<\/span>\u0915\u094d\u0932\u0940\u0902 \u0938\u094c\u0903\u00a0\u0965<br \/>\n<em>ai\u1e41 kl\u012b\u1e41 sau\u1e25\u00a0\u0965<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Some are compressed according to the principle of <em>praty\u0101h\u0101ra<\/em>, some, on the contrary, are expanded. Let&#8217;s take a closer look.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The\u00a0<em>b\u012bja<\/em>\u00a0<span class=\"s2\">\u0938\u094b\u0902<\/span> <em>so\u1e41<\/em> is a combination of <span class=\"s2\">\u0938\u094b\u093d\u0939\u0902<\/span> <em>so<span class=\"s3\">\u0315h<\/span>a\u1e41<\/em> and <em>Par\u0101<\/em> (<em>\u015aakti<\/em>)\u00a0<em>b\u012bja<\/em> <span class=\"s2\">\u0938\u094c\u0903<\/span> <em>sau\u1e25<\/em>. The\u00a0<em>b\u012bja<\/em> <span class=\"s2\">\u0907\u0932\u0940\u0902<\/span> il\u012b\u1e41 is simply a modified <span class=\"s2\">\u0910\u0902<\/span> <em>ai\u1e41<\/em> (<em>v\u0101k<\/em>&#8211;<em>b\u012bja<\/em>), because <span class=\"s2\">\u0910\u0902<\/span> <em>ai\u1e41<\/em> is nothing more than a <em>sandhyak\u1e63ara<\/em> from <span class=\"s2\">\u0905<\/span> + <span class=\"s2\">\u0908<\/span>, although there could be short variants of them. We get <span class=\"s2\">\u090f<\/span>, then if we again add <span class=\"s2\">\u0905<\/span> to it, we get <span class=\"s2\">\u0910<\/span>. Just like joining <span class=\"s2\">\u0905<\/span> + <span class=\"s2\">\u0909<\/span>, we get <span class=\"s2\">\u0913<\/span>, with <em>bindu<\/em> it will be\u00a0<em>pra\u1e47ava<\/em> <span class=\"s2\">\u0913\u0902<\/span>, and if we further \u2018strengthen\u2019 it, we will get <span class=\"s2\">\u0914<\/span>, which can be a part of the\u00a0<em>b\u012bja<\/em> <span class=\"s2\">\u0938\u094c\u0903<\/span>, called\u00a0<em>\u015aakti<\/em>&#8211;<em>b\u012bja<\/em> and sometimes <em>Par\u0101<\/em>&#8211;<em>b\u012bja<\/em>. In fact, <span class=\"s2\">\u0907\u0932\u0940\u0902<\/span> could be understood as a compressed form that extends from <span class=\"s2\">\u0907<\/span> to <span class=\"s2\">\u0932<\/span> &#8211; the last\u00a0<em>ak\u1e63ara<\/em> of the Sanskrit alphabet (<em>m\u0101t\u1e5dk\u0101<\/em>), with the exception of the first\u00a0<em>ak\u1e63ara<\/em>\u00a0<span class=\"s2\">\u0905<\/span>, from which the entire\u00a0<em>m\u0101t\u1e5dk\u0101\u00a0<\/em>emerges. The\u00a0<em>b\u012bja<\/em> <span class=\"s2\">\u0915\u094d\u0932\u0940\u0902<\/span> <em>kl\u012b\u1e41<\/em> is the <em>k\u0101ma<\/em>&#8211;<em>b\u012bja<\/em> without modifications. This is just a small analysis of the parallels between the <em>N\u0101th<\/em> Tradition and the\u00a0<i>\u015ar\u012bvidy\u0101-<\/i><em>tantra<\/em> <em>mantras<\/em>. Of course, I cannot give out all the secrets of the <em>mantras<\/em> to those who are not\u00a0<em>d\u012bk\u1e63ita<\/em>. Nevertheless, even from that one can see a lot of connections and parallels of seemingly different traditions. In my opinion, the situation here is about the same as in Vajrayana, when many <em>siddhas<\/em> could not really separate themselves from Buddhism and from <em>N\u0101thism<\/em> at the same time. But after centuries, the paths diverged. Although, there are fewer differences between\u00a0<i>\u015ar\u012bvidy\u0101<\/i> and <em>N\u0101thism<\/em>, since both traditions are theistic and have much in common.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Goddess\u00a0<em>B\u0101l\u0101<\/em> is directly related to\u00a0<em>Gorak\u1e63an\u0101th<\/em>, because she is young, just like\u00a0<em>Gorak\u1e63an\u0101th<\/em> (<em>bal-jati<\/em>).
